The Pharr Community Theater, once again, proudly presents, A Tejano Christmas Carol, December 12 to 20 in Pharr.
This delightful classic from Charles Dickens and adapted by Pedro Garcia is set in the RGV with a cast of 20 local performers who have been in rehearsals since October.
In this tale the well-known Ebenezer Scrooge, played by Ray Perez, becomes Ezequiel Codos an RGV attorney and powerful water broker whose greed threatens to dry up the famous Rio Grande River.
Codos, a bitter, greed-driven man has spent his life chasing wealth at the cost of happiness. As he grows older, his ruthless ways remain unshaken—until three magical spirits intervene. Among them are La Rielera, played by Erika E. Garza, a brave woman soldier from the Mexican Revolution, and the enchanting singer Selena, played by Juliette Huerta.
Through their visits, Codos begins to experience the power of love and the joys of life, realizing just how much he’s missed. He discovers the true taste of happiness—and the undeniable allure of Turkey and Tamales, especially when shared.
The show is Directed and Co-Produced by Dalia Bouchée, Stage Managed by Lina Ortiz and Produced by the Pharr Community Theater, Co. with Pedro García.
