Back by popular demand, after more than a decade, the Shindig Show will be returning to the Rio Grande Valley. It will be returning with a “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes,” concert series this season.
From 2006 to 2012, the Shindig Show was a staple Sunday afternoon show in the RGV. First at Bentsen Palm RV Resort, then at Casa Del Sol RV Resort.
Elaine Nelson, a well-known entertainer and Hall of Fame member, will be bringing the show back.
Elaine is a member of the National Traditional Country Music Hall of Fame, has performed on Midwest Country Theatre, in Austin, the UK, Branson, in the Chicken House Opry and the Rhinestone Opry. The Chicken House Opry was right here in the RGV from 2007 to 2013. In 2014, Elaine had the Music Valley Theatre, or Rhinestone Opry, that was touted as a foot-tappin’, hand-clappin’, smile-breakin’, memory makin’ show. The show offered classic country music and humor that featured “The Judge,” Cousin Minnie Pearl, and many others.
She was voted “Best Female Singer” by the National Traditional Country Music Association, The Austin Country Music Association, and the Texas Country Music Association. Elaine has also been nominated several times for the Valley Star Awards Best Female Singer category.
Producer and star of the music variety venue, Elaine, now a full-time resident of the RGV, is excited to resurrect this fun, engaging Branson-style show. With classic country, old-time rock and roll, a little gospel, appreciation for our veterans, a little family-style humor and a whole lotta fun.
You’ll tap your feet, clap your hands, laugh, and remember when, says Elaine.
Elaine will be joined by her husband, bass player Steve Brown, Louie Jett on lead guitar and vocals, Mick Morrow on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Adrian Derikx on drums and vocals. Together with Elaine on guitar and mandolin, the Fabulous Shindig Show Band brings to the show ‘table’ more than 100 years of enthusiasm and musical expertise. In addition, a special guest will pop in from time to time.
The “Shindig Gang” invites you to come on in, sit a spell, and enjoy your Sunday afternoons with them. The show runs January 12 through March 30 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. (doors open at 1 p.m.) at Bit-O-Heaven RV Park, 1051 W. Business Hwy. 83, in Donna. The cost is $8 at the door.
Bring a smile and bring a friend!
