SPI will have their Holiday Light Show with synchronized festive music that is played in 15-minute intervals, daily from 6 to 9 p.m. at the SPI Convention Center.

Brownsville Holiday Village will be on display at Dean Porter Park. Houses will be lit up at 6 p.m. every night. SPI’s Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at SPI City Hall at 5 p.m.

Fiesta Mercedes will be held in conjunction with the Welcome Back Winter Texan Reception at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Showgrounds, 1000 N. Texas Ave., Mercedes. Music will be presented by Chris Marshall. The event is free. It will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.

McAllen will kick-off the Christmas season with their 9th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the McAllen Convention Center Oval Park today, December 1, starting at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy holiday musical performances right before the 64-foot, pre-lit Christmas tree will light up Oval Park, along with millions of lights that will be featured in South Pole Illuminated Festival. The South Pole of Texas will be illuminated through January 2.

SPI will host their 32nd Annual Christmas Street Parade at 6 p.m. beginning on Mars St. to Kingfish St.

The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce and City of Edinburg proudly present their Annual Night of Lights Parade. The parade will take place at 7 p.m. in the Edinburg downtown district.

City of Mercedes presents A White Christmas Parade, on Texas Ave., starting at 6 p.m. Visit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the season along with food.

December 3-5

The Harlingen Community Theatre, located at 1209 Fair Park Boulevard, presents the charming and fast-paced Off-Broadway smash hit, The Marvelous Wonderettes. Performances are presented Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. Adults $25 and Children (under 18 yrs.) $10. Tickets are sold at the Box Office on performance days: Friday and Saturday starting at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday 1:30 p.m. HCT accepts credit/debit cards, cash, and checks. All sales are final. The City of San Benito will host their Community Christmas and Tree Lighting from 5 to 7 p.m. at W.H. Heavin Memorial Park. For more information, contact Parks and Recreation Department at (956) 361-3800, or visit cityofsanbenito.com to download a registration form.

McAllen will have their big Holiday Parade this weekend, Saturday, December 4, from the McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2001 N. Bicentennial Blvd., at 6 p.m. Check www.ticketmaster.com, the McAllen Performing Arts Center Box Office, or any McAllen community centers to see if there are still tickets and chairs still available. The parade will be broadcast on Christmas day at noon on local Telemundo stations.

A Lighted Boat Parade will be held on South Padre Island starting at 6 p.m. The route begins at the Sea Ranch Marina. There will be designated viewing areas throughout the route.

December 5

Holiday Market at the Museum, in celebration of the Christmas Tree Forest, will be held at IMAS, from 1 to 5 p.m. Visit and shop local artists and artisan market; visit with community partners. $3 general admission. IMAS is located at 1900 Nolana Ave. in McAllen.

December 8-9

Mission Regional Medical Center, in coordination with the Mission Chamber, is holding their yearly Community Health and Wellness Fair from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. The event will be held at the Mission Event Center, 200 N. Shary Rd. The event is free to the public and will provide several health screenings. Some tests require a 12 hour fast and require an appointment. The Valley Symphony Orchestra proudly announces A Touch of Frost, the holiday musical tradition. Tickets are on sale now for the event featuring the Valley Symphony Chorale. Hear all of your holiday favorites as well as selections from the Nutcracker and Handel’s Messiah. The event will be held at the McAllen Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at box office, by calling (956) 681-3800, or by visiting www.valleyorchestra.org.
