The Rio Grande Valley Detachment of the Marine Corps League will be celebrating the 247th birthday of the United States Marine Corps by hosting their inaugural Marine Corps Birthday Ball on Saturday, November 12. The event will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Mission Event Center.

During off season months, there is still plenty of things that happen in the Valley. Not too long after Winter Texans went back to their summer homes last season, a 100-year-old converted Texan was honored in Alamo.

The Valley Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the 2022-2023 concert season. VSO will return to the McAllen Performing Arts Center with a five-concert subscription series and other special events, all under the direction of Maestro Peter Dabrowksi.

So many sites to see
Thirty-five years ago, our first issue featured a story by John M. Young titled “No time to see it all, but you can try.” We know our seasonal visitors aim at visiting Valley sites while here, and we also know, from the work we do with our RGV Visitors Guide, that we have a lot of interesting places to see.
The article talks about several top sites to see in the Valley, and I will recap some of those here. We hope you take some time to visit the local sites and enjoy the history and locales the Rio Grande Valley has to offer.
