Yes, Christmas is coming and there is so much to see and do. If you take part in only a few of the festivities, there is no doubt you will be in a Holiday Mood. Just imagine - beginning on December 3 - this Friday - you can choose almost any town in the Rio Grande Valley and see a grand Christmas Parade. The biggest and most impressive of all the parades might easily be the one in McAllen at the football stadium where giant helium filled characters adorn the floats. This parade is on Saturday, December 4 and begins at 7 p.m. There is an entry fee for this event. Tickets can be purchased at the McAllen CVB and will run anywhere from $10 to $25 depending on where you want to sit in the stadium. Check your local museums regarding the possibility of a Christmas Tree Forest display where locals have decorated trees with special Christmas themes. Some museums will ask for a donation, others will have a small entry fee.

We love hearing from you!
It has been a pleasure to receive messages from park residents, activity directors, etc. the past few weeks about what you are doing and how much you are enjoying being back in the Valley.
We will try to feature some of these parks as we get information from them – and best of all – photos. Photos tell the story and give us a true insight in what you are doing at your park.
Please, if you send us a write up about your park, or a special person, include photos we can use for publication. Our readers love to see photos, and they love to see photos of themselves. It gives them something to smile about.

Christmas is a time for wonderful stories and a number of residents in the Lakewood RV Resort in Harlingen have one to tell. In fact, this will be the 28th Christmas for the Children party, slated for Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the park. It is a resumption of an effort that was interrupted last year by the pandemic.
“We are providing a special Christmas for 14 less fortunate families whose children attend the nearby local elementary school,” according to Donna Wright, a Lakewood resident and Christmas for the Children chairperson for the last 10 years. “Stuart Place Elementary School is where many of our Lakewood Winter Texans have spent precious hours mentoring students.”

While some may think it is still a little early to unpack the holiday decorations, The Salvation Army has been hard at work, planning Christmas programs for several months. Now, as the red kettles are appearing outside stores, and Angel Trees are being set up, volunteers are needed to help ensure men, women, and children in need throughout our community experience the joys of Christmas.
