The 29th Annual Winter Wildlife Expo will be held at the South Padre Island Birding Nature Center and Alligator Sanctuary February 6 through 8. Admission is $10 per day. Saturday, February 8, is Family Day, when all kids 15 and under have free admission.
Expect captivating experiences with presentations on a wide array of topics, including sea turtles, native plants, birds, fishing, butterflies, dragonflies, and more. Enjoy live shows and explore exhibits from non-profit environmental and wildlife organizations.
The keynote speakers will be Chrissy and Jay Kleberg on Friday, February 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are part of the PBS Docuseries Chasing the Tide. The Kleberg’s have walked the entire Texas coastline from Sabine Pass to South Padre Island. A nearly 400-mile trek. They will be sharing stories from their journey and what they learned along the way.
You can also register for fun and educational guided coastal nature adventures being held February 3 through 5. These tours will showcase the best of nature where visitors will visit hard-to-reach or normally inaccessible environments. Van tours are limited to 10 participants and boat tours to six.
