McAllen Community Concerts starts season next week

CStreetBrassPHOTO2 webMcAllen Community Concert Association is featuring six great concerts this season. The first concert will be held on Thursday, November 20 with C Street Brass.

C Street Brass is a brass quartet passionately committed to educating and inspiring the next generation of musicians. C Street Brass’s mission is to connect lovers of the arts from all walks of life around a highly energetic and engaging concert experience. Equally as comfortable with Baroque as they are Broadway, this brass ensemble features five of the most talented, classically trained musicians in the industry. Their concerts encompass a wide variety of genres, ranging from Frank Sinatra to Astor Piazzolla and Billy Joel to George Gershwin, and ensure that every audience member’s musical palate is satisfied.

Enjoy music at IMAS

Spend your Sunday afternoons immersed in arts and music at the UTRGV Concert Series at IMAS, a special series of performances by faculty and students from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Music. Ranging from the romantics to the contemporary with piano, cello, jazz, voice and percussion, these community concerts are immersed in the fine art galleries of the International Music of Art and Science and great for the whole family.

On November 16, visitors can enjoy the UTRGV Opera Theatre: Masquerades, Marriage, and Mischief. The Romantic Cello: Janacek, Jessie Montgomery, and Rachmaninoff will be presented on December 14. UTRGV faculty pianist Dr. Brendan Kinsella and guest artist Dr. Daniel Saenz performs a soulful afternoon of music for violoncello and piano. From Janacek’s dreamy and imaginative “Fairy Tale” to Rachmaninoff”s thrilling Sonata for Violoncello and Piano, this recital is sure to delight and inspire.

McAllen presents Broadway in the RGV

The season started in September with The Addams Family. There are four remaining shows for the season.

The season continues in December with Tina – The Tina Turner Musical on December 10. An uplifting comeback story like no other, this musical is an inspiring journey of a woman who broke barriers and became the Queen of Rock n’ Roll. Set to the pulse-pounding soundtrack of her most beloved hits, this electrifying sensation will send you soaring to the rafters. One of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, Tina Turner won 12 Grammy Awards, and her live shows were seen by millions, with more concert tickets sold than any other solo performer in music history.

UTRGV Arts has full November schedule

Feel the spirit of fall all around this month through shows provided by UTRGV Arts. This month brings a wonderful mix of dance, music, art, and more to enjoy.

Tonight, you have the chance to enjoy some music with the Wind Orchestra and Symphonic Winds at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, 1201 W. University Dr., in Edinburg. The show will be at 7 p.m. General admission is $10. Enjoy a lively performance featuring music, old and new, crafting a vibrant program of excitement and beauty. They will perform again on Thursday, November 13, in Brownsville at the TSC Performing Arts Center, 90 Taylor Ave.

Harlingen Community Theatre presents Aladdin Jr.

Aladdin Jr webHarlingen Community Theatre (HCT) is where Valley stars shine. After celebrating 50 years of highlighting Valley talent last season, they will continue to showcase the talent the Valley has to offer with this season shows.

They started the season last month with Murder on the Orient Express. Their next show, Disney’s Aladdin Jr., is set to entertain audiences November 14 through 16. The shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $15 for adults.

The production highlights their summer youth intensive cast live on the stage. This is a show they created during a month-long theatre workshop in June.

MWE presents ‘Duty, Honor, Country’

The concert will take place on Tuesday, November 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Center.

This performance goes beyond the music — it’s a heartfelt tribute to America’s heroes. Audiences will be inspired by patriotic favorites, stirring military marches, and beloved American classics that honor every generation of those who have served. From the first note to the final crescendo, “Duty, Honor, Country” will remind us all what it means to stand united in pride and gratitude.

VSO celebrates Maestro Peter Dabrowski’s 25th season

VSO Dabrowski webThe Valley Symphony Orchestra (VSO) proudly announces the official start of the 2025-26 Masterworks Season, a milestone year marking esteemed Music Director and Conductor Maestro Peter Dabrowski’s 25th year leading the orchestra. The season opens Friday, November 7 at 8 p.m. at the McAllen Performing Arts Center with Music of the Greats, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Gabriela Martinez in a program of timeless works by Mozart, Sibelius, and Hindemith.
