Let your dreams set sail! Edinburg Parks and Recreation is hosting the 9th Annual Cardboard Regatta competition, which promises to be an exhilarating experience for participants and spectators alike. This unique event will take place on Friday, March 14 at 6 p.m. at the Edinburg Municipal Pool and aims to bring the community together for an evening filled with fun, teamwork, and friendly competition.
The Cardboard Regatta encourages participants to design and build their own watercraft using only corrugated cardboard and duct tape. This challenge requires teams to demonstrate their engineering skills, creativity, and innovation as they construct vessels capable of floating and racing across the water.
The event is open to three age groups: children (6-12 years), teens (13-17 years) and adults (18 & up), making it a fantastic opportunity for families, friends, and colleagues to come together and enjoy some outdoor excitement. Registration forms may be picked up in person at the Edinburg Sports & Wellness Center at 315 Mark S. Peña Dr., or citizens can request a registration form via email (lucasrodriguez@cityofedinburg.com).
The Cardboard Regatta Competition will not only provide an enjoyable experience for the participants but also offer spectators a chance to witness the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the teams as they navigate their cardboard vessels through the water.
Registration closes Friday, March 7 at 5 p.m.
