About 400 Winter Texans filled the Winter Ranch Resort Hall on Tuesday, January 28 for Pastor Pudge’s Gospel Music Extravaganza. The event was full of gospel music, some comedy, and most of all worship and testimonies. The event was free, but they also took donations for local charities.

Bob and Alta Courtney performed as themselves and as Redneck Revival. Along with them were the husband-and-wife duo of Even You Ministries, and a steel guitar player and his wife also joined in.

The group of musicians played off of each other throughout the show. They cracked some jokes, did some church comedy, and played some of the most widely known hymns.

Many in the audience were singing along, clapping, and raising their hands up in praise. One man said, the event should have been more packed because these individuals were good to hear and shared a great message. I couldn’t agree more.

One of the highlights of the show was Scott Roberts and his piano playing. He might be little, but his hands are blessed with the talent of playing the keys. He played a beautiful rendition of How Great Thou Art and a few other classic hymns.

IMG 2342 webScott was born with a brittle bone disease, and his parents were told he would not have a fulfilling life. He shared his conversion story on how since he accepted Jesus as his Savior at the age of 12, he hasn’t had another broken bone. When he was young, he often felt left out because he couldn’t play sports or go outside and play with the other kids because he might get hurt.

At a young age, someone put a piano in front of him and he, surprising his parents, plucked out Jesus Loves Me. It was then they realized he might be able to do something with his hands. They tried several different instruments, Scott said. One Christmas he was even given a violin that somehow disappeared after a few months. It was at six-years-old he began playing piano by ear and music became his friend.

He believes God has called him to tell everyone about the love of Jesus Christ and that is what he does through his music and ministries. He said “God never made a mistake” with him. It was a “What are we going to do with this one?” And they made this one for a purpose, he says.
Scott added that miraculously his fingers have never been broken before – “I can use them.”

“God put that broken boy that didn’t think he was going to have a life a way to play the piano.”

And so, Scott uses his fingers to do a lot of the talking as he shares his testimony, the love he has for Jesus Christ, and above all, the love Jesus has for him and all of us.
