Leslie Blasing will be hosting the WinterFest and Expo next week on Monday, February 13th, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday, February 14th, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held at the South Padre Island Convention Center.
There is no entrance fee to the event, but Blasing is highlighting the local food pantries by collecting canned foods. Donation is not required, but greatly appreciated.
The Event honors an era – 1964 to 1973. There will be a special salute and musical tribute to Vietnam Veterans. There will also be guest speakers from the era. As last year, Blasing said the speakers are incredible, have some connection to Vietnam, and great things to share.

This is your last chance for presales for tickets to this year’s Valley Star Awards. This year’s entertainment includes Ron Moshier, Nu-Blu, Jason Whorlow, Winnie Brave, Redneck Revival, and Regan James.
Ron Moshier has been quite a hit in the Rio Grande Valley. When we asked the activity directors for nominees on the VSA Ballot, Ron Moshier’s name came to many as we asked for feedback. To the delight of Winter Texans throughout the Valley, he will be performing at the 2023 Valley Star Awards on Wednesday, February 15.
Nu-Blu has been visiting the Valley for a few years now, but this year, they are celebrating their 20th year entertaining. During their 20 years, they have released several Top Ten Billboard albums, have destination tours, and have moved into the role of bringing the roots of Americana music to the masses.
Quinta Mazatlan is proud to present an early Valentines Concert in the Park on Thursday, February 9th, 6 p.m. in the evening. The concert features Cecy and Bri who are a contemporary classical duo. Throughout the years, they have collaborated as performers, music educators, and now as “Dos Voces,” which integrates their disciplines of voice, piano, and guitar. Open to innovation and fun, these two explore the Bolero as well as Jazz, Soul, and other contemporary genres.
